T. D. BAKER CLOSED CAMPUS 2009-10
Policy
In the interest of student safety T. D. Baker School has implemented a lunch hour “Closed Campus” policy for the 2009-10 school year. This means that during the lunch break T. D. Baker students must remain on the school property for the lunch break. Our goal is to maximize student safety and ensure effective communication between the school and the home. The policy also eliminates lunch fees.

At T. D. Baker School we have determined that reading comprehension is our instructional focus. This is the one thing that we want to do best.
Our official instructional focus statement is:
We believe that all students at T.D. Baker should be able to demonstrate growth in reading for meaning and understanding as measured by performance on internal and external assessments. A specific emphasis on vocabulary, graphically organizing data, and extensive assessments for learning will be the best practices utilized to foster desired improvements.
What does this mean for you?
You can be even more successful at reading and learning.

Dr. Thomas Davidson Baker
(Excerpts from the Eulogy of Dr. Thomas Davidson Baker as delivered by Michael Kostek on May 8th, 1997)
Dr. Thomas Davidson Baker was a good man in every sense of the word - a pioneer educator, a humanitarian, - a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a man who made our city and province a better place in which to live. His untiring devotion to duty and his public spirit are attributes, which made him an outstanding leader and one of the great men of Alberta in the 20th century.

This is what we’re all about. We’re about finding the potential for success in each child. We’re about helping them find their own special light. We’re about helping children realize they can fly.
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the new school year at T.D. Baker Junior High School. What an exciting time of the year! Students and staff have begun the annual process of welcoming our students and continuing along their journey in education.
My name is Darren Fox and I have the privilege of being the principal at T.D. Baker School. This is my tenth year as a principal; previously I was the principal at Westminster Junior High School for the past six years. I am excited about joining the T.D. Baker family.
